Hello 2018 | My Goals for the New Year

The new year is finally here! I don’t know about you guys, but I fully intend on making 2018 my best year yet. Looking back on 2017, I can honestly say that it was one of the most exciting and stressful years of my life. It came and went in what seemed like the blink of an eye, but I’m so glad it’s over. I’m ready for a fresh start!

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what I want to focus on this year, and after a lot of brainstorming, I think I have a pretty good idea of what I want to accomplish over the next 12 months. Today, I’m going to share with you the goals I have for 2018.

Personal Goals

Read 20 books
I love to read, but I didn’t really do it all that much in 2017. This year I’ve made it a goal to read at least 20 books. This may not seem like a lot to some people, but I don’t want to overwhelm myself. I’m a fast reader, so 20 books is definitely achievable, but it’ll still be a challenge considering how busy my schedule is.

Journal weekly or more
I’m really proud of how much I wrote in my journal last year, but to be honest, I wasn’t very consistent with it. I wrote mostly in spurts and then not at all for weeks at a time. I want to change that this year! I would love to eventually get to the point of journaling daily, but for now, I think once a week is a good starting point.

Practice daily gratitude
I can be a really negative person sometimes. It’s not something I’m proud of, and this year I really want to work towards a more positive lifestyle. So far I’ve incorporated a daily gratitude log in my bullet journal so I can jot down one or two things I’m grateful for each day. I think this is really important and I’m excited to see the results!

No zero days
I love watching Netflix on the couch just as much as the next person, but this year I really want to buckle down and get things done, especially when it comes to my blog. In 2018 I’m going to make it a point to do at least one thing every single day – even if it’s just writing a sentence – that will propel me towards my goals.

Embrace minimalism
Simplicity is something I’m striving for in 2018. Lately, all the extra stuff I have lying around has started to drive me insane. It feels like I’m drowning in clutter, so I’m kicking off this month by attempting the minimalism challenge! I’m excited to do a purge of my belongings and see what’s left that I really care about.

Maintain a 4.0 GPA
My education is currently my number one priority. Academics have always been my strong point, but this year I’m going to go the extra mile to stay on track and keep my grades high. I’m heading off to college next fall, so this is definitely going to be a challenge, but I’m determined to make all A’s!

Blogging Goals

Develop my brand
Consistent branding is key to building a successful online presence. Honestly, my branding is kind of all over the place, and I really want that to change this year. I’m looking forward to experimenting with different aesthetics and styles of writing to determine what I like most and what I want my brand to embody.

Start an email list
There’s a reason so many bloggers rave about the power of email lists. Pretty much every blogger has one and they can be super beneficial, especially when trying to monetize. I’ve debated for a long time whether or not I should start one, and I’ve finally decided to take the leap and start my own later this year.

Create a digital product
This is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while, and I’m going to make it happen in 2018. Creating and launching my own digital product will be a huge stepping stone in my blogging journey. I’m not sure if it’ll be an ebook or an online course (I’m leaning towards an ebook), but it’s definitely something I’ll be working towards!

Stay consistent
My blog is still relatively new, but already I have struggled with staying consistent. Unfortunately, things happen and sometimes I may have to skip a post. However, this year I want to be more prepared and miss as few days as possible. I’m going to do my best to stay on top of my posting schedule and get ahead if I can.

I’m super excited for the new year and all the goals I want to accomplish. I’m welcoming 2018 with an open mind and heart, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store. Here’s to hoping this year brings lots of joy, positivity, and growth!
